Welcome back to our existing families and hello to all our new children and their families. We hope you all had a good Christmas break.
With the change of seasons can we remind everyone to bring your child to Pre-school with a coat and wellies.  We place boxes in the entrance hall for you to put the wellies in, please look for your child’s keyworker colour box and don’t forget to label your child’s belongings

 Den making fun

You don’t need much more than a table and a sheet to make a great den. But come and join us on Saturday 28th April and we'll provide you with a whole lot more of exciting stuff to build your den with your child/children.

There will be rope, blankets, clips, pipes, bamboo canes, chairs, benches, barrels, tyres...the list is endless...be sure to get there early!

Once the den is built you can eat a brunch of sausages cooked on the BBQ in the comfort of your den.

Summative Assessments

Your Keyworker will be writing a summary of your child's learning and development at the end of Term 4. This will be available to view in your child's learning journey at the beginning of Term 5.

Learning Journeys…

What is a learning journey?

‘The learning journey is a continuous journey through which children build on all the things they have already experienced and come across new and interesting challenges. Every child’s learning journey takes a personal path based on their own individual experiences and the curriculum on offer’

Taken from the principles into practice card 3.2 Enabling Environments, Early Years Foundation Stage.

We record each child’s learning journey in a book, these books are freely available for parents and carers to read and add to. As learning doesn’t just take place at Pre-school we invite you to share any learning that takes place outside of the setting by adding to the books. This can take the form of written notes (Wow moments), photographs or examples of work.
Your input not only helps your child’s keyworker to plan effectively for your child’s next steps it also gives us an idea of what your child is currently interested in so this can be included in the planning process. Children are motivated by play, especially when it meets their current interest. They are more likely to persist when things get difficult and have a real sense of achievement when they succeed if the play is self-initiated.
